The Lowcountry girls basketball team will begin play in the SCISA 1A championship playoffs on Friday Feb. 20th. The tournament consists of the final 16 teams remaining in Class 1A. The Marlins 19-3 overall suffered an overtime loss at the region tournament to Coastal Christian Prep of Mt. Pleasant. The game was highlighted by 10 Coastal Christian 3-pointers and a 20 point first half lead. The Marlins came back with a 26-4 run in the second half to lead by 2 and eventual fall in overtime 56-53. The loss did not change their #1 seed for the upcoming State Tournament.
The Weekend was highlighted by the Regular Season awards ceremony. The Fighting Marlins were well represented with Jr. Blake Hurston getting 2nd team all-region, Fr. Aaliyah Hudson receiving 2nd team for the girls varsity. The first team for the Girls Varsity was last year�s MVP Jr. Sister Donkle getting 1st team all region, and So. Jenny Derrick winning the Region MVP for the girls varsity. Jenny averaged 23.1 points and 16.8 rebounds a game. Allston Pate was selected All Tournament team for the regional tournament.
